Your morning wire afternoon Update 24 israeli soldiers were killed in Israel's deadliest day of war on Tuesday. Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce has the details.

21 soldiers were killed in one explosion caused when a Hamas militant used an rpg to blow up an israeli tank. The IDF says three more soldiers, two majors and a captain, were killed in a separate incident. Israel is currently focusing its war efforts on southern Gaza. The IDF says they have made significant progress in the city of Khan Unis, which they describe as a Hamas stronghold. Meanwhile, Hamas still holds 130 hostages, saying they will release them in return for a permanent ceasefire, an offer which Israel has rejected despite pressure from the US and the EU. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues to defend his stance against a two state solution, saying that would be a threat to the existence of Israel.

Three Kansas City chief fans were found frozen to death in the yard behind their friend's home in Kansas City, Missouri, after gathering to watch a game. The bodies were reportedly on the property for two days before being found on January 9. The homeowner states. The friends left the residence after the game he believed to go to a bar and did not return. A toxicology report has not been released, but according to Kansas City PD, foul play is not suspected.

The Harvard Medical School affiliated Dana Farber Cancer Institute announced it's requesting to retract six studies and correct 31 other papers in connection with a probe involving several of its senior cancer researchers, including the organization's chief executive president, Laurie Glimcher. The institute has not yet revealed whether misconduct occurred. The scandal began earlier this month when a molecular biologist, Schulto David, wrote a blog post warning that there were signs of image manipulation in some of the results, including, quote, pixel perfect matches for the same area in images that were supposed to be different samples.

Hundreds of illegal immigrants are sleeping on the floor of Boston's logan airport at night. This started back in November, but according to the local CBS affiliate, the migrants are removed during the day. Here's Massachusetts governor Maura Healy addressing the situation.

42 states and Washington, DC had launched investigations into J and J for apparently failing to inform customers about potential health risks, primarily that the company's baby powder allegedly caused cancer. J and J has denied those allegations but did remove LTeLC based powders from the market in 2020. The tentative agreement, according to sources, would shield J and J from future lawsuits but would not affect the more than 50,000 pending personal injury lawsuits, most of which come from women claiming the powder gave them ovarian cancer.

The epic historical drama Oppenheimer led the pack with 13 nominations. Killian Murphy will compete for best actor for his portrayal of the father of the Atom bomb, and Christopher Nolan received nods for both best writer and best director. Four things a modern twist on Frankenstein received twelve nominations, including best picture, best director and best actress for Emma Stone, while Martin Scorsese's latest, killers of the Flower Moon, is up for eleven awards, making him the most nominated living director. But the big story may be two names that were not mentioned. Though the blockbuster Barbie received eight nominations, including best picture and best supporting actor for Ryan Gosling, director Greta Gerwig and star Margot Robbie were both snub for Hollywood's most prestigious award.
