I'm Daily Wire editor in chief John Vickley with Georgia Howe. It's Tuesday, January 30, and this is your morning wire afternoon update. President Biden says he has made a decision on how to respond to a drone attack that killed three us soldiers in northeast Jordan. When asked by reporters this morning if he had made a decision on the matter, the president said yes. Daily Wire senior editor Cabot Phillips reports.

Speaker 3
The president's remarks come after he vowed to retaliate and, quote, hold all those responsible to account at a time and in a manner of our choosing for the deadly attack, which also injured more than 30 us service members. Reporters also asked the president if he holds Iran responsible for that attack.

00:55

Speaker 4
I do hold response responsible in the sense that they're supplying the weapons to the people of Syria.

These were the first U. S. Deaths by iranian backed militant groups since the beginning of the Israel Hamas war. The drone targeted barracks on A-U-S. Military installation in Jordan. According to NPR, a militant group called the islamic resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility for the incident. They've also taken credit for separate drone attacks on bases in Syria and a naval facility in Israel.

Republicans on the House Homeland Security Committee took the next step today in impeaching homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. The vote, which was along party lines, charged Majorcas with refusing to uphold the law and breaching public trust. Here's committee chairman, Representative Mark Green.

01:39

Speaker 6
The actions and decisions of Secretary Mayorkas have left us with no other option than to proceed with articles of impeachment. To quote Madison once again, perhaps the greatest danger of abuse in the executive power lies in the improper continuance of bad men in office, end quote. We cannot allow this man to remain in office any longer.

02:01

Speaker 5
The action taken by the committee paves the way for a full house vote as early as next week.

A potential new hostage deal between Israel and Hamas has reportedly been discussed by Israel's war cabinet, but has not yet been voted on. Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce has more.

02:18

Speaker 7
The last ceasefire deal needed approval from the war cabinet, the security cabinet, and lastly, the full government. As one israeli official tells NBC, all future agreements are expected to go through the same process and that a vote hasn't occurred yet because Hamas may demand changes. Israeli officials said that any pause given in exchange for prisoners would only be temporary, while Hamas is demanding a permanent ceasefire after reports of the framework of a deal being presented to Hamas. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he will not release thousands of terrorists nor take israeli forces out of Gaza. A source familiar with the negotiations tells NBC that the proposal included the possibility of a 60 day pause in hostilities and the release of civilian hostages in exchange for palestinian prisoners, as the deal.

Speaker 5
Continues to be negotiated. This morning, undercover israeli forces in heavy disguise raided a West bank hospital where they killed three militants. Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad militant group claimed the trio as members. The IDF says the men were using the hospital as a base to plan more terror attacks.

The Justice Department is investigating democratic Congresswoman Corey Bush over accusations that she misused government money meant to pay for her security. A subpoena announcement related to the investigation was read on the House floor yesterday.

According to Punchbowl News, an ethics watchdog alleges Bush paid her once bodyguard and now husband, Courtney Merrittz, from her campaign funds. It was recently revealed that Bush married Merritt's in a private ceremony in early 2023. Merritt was on Bush's campaign payroll the year before. A nonpartisan accountability group has asked the FEC to look into the matter.

Motion passes the election board's hearing officer, a retired republican judge, claims that the evidence against Trump is overwhelming, but left the ultimate decision to the courts.

Speaker 9
There's no doubt in my mind that he manipulated, instigated, aided and abetted an insurrection on January 6. However, having said that, it's not my place to rule on that today.

04:50

Speaker 5
This comes just one week before the US Supreme Court is set to begin hearing arguments on whether Trump's alleged involvement in January 6 should disqualify him from running for the Oval Office. The court has never ruled on a case about section three of the 14th Amendment, which was adopted to prevent former Confederates from returning to office after the civil war.

UPS is cutting 12,000 jobs from its workforce, which equates to about 2.4% of its over 500,000 person workforce. The news comes after the shipping giant said it was seeking to make a $1 billion cost reduction, citing decreasing demands for service and higher labor union costs. A UPS spokesman confirmed that most of these reductions would come in the first half of this year.
