Republicans in the House have put forward a resolution paired with a report from the House Oversight and Judiciary committees holding Hunter Biden in contempt of Congress. Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce has more.

This comes after the first son defied a congressional subpoena as part of the House impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden. Instead, Hunter appeared on Capitol Hill in a defiant press conference, saying he would only testify in a public setting. Both the report and resolution are set to be considered by the oversight committee during a meeting on Wednesday. At the same time, the House Judiciary Committee plans to hold a meeting recommending the first son be held in contempt of Congress. Democratic Congressman Jamie Raskin claims the move is unprecedented since the younger Biden was asked to appear, and he agreed. Congressman Comer and Jordan later expanded their investigation to probe whether President Biden was involved in Hunter's decision to defy the subpoena, something they say would be an impeachable offense.

Dr. Anthony Fauci testified before the House select subcommittee on the coronavirus pandemic today. Fauci, who was a leading voice during the pandemic and the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, will sit before the republican led committee for 14 hours of interviews across two days. House staff say the interviews will focus on a variety of things, including pandemic origins, vaccines and mask mandates. The interviews are taking place behind closed doors.

Hundreds of flights remained canceled today after the FAA's decision to ground all Boeing 737 Max nine aircraft. The flights are mainly Alaska and United Airlines flights, amounting to around 350 total cancellations as of Monday morning. Much of the cancellations are concentrated at Alaska's Seattle Tacoma International Airport, though several other airports, including in Newark, Denver and Chicago O'Hare, have seen a large number of flight cancellations as well. At this point, thousands of travelers have been affected by the flight cancellations. One man said he had just dropped off his daughter for a flight to California when he saw the news.

This all comes after a panel blew out of a 171 passenger plane's fuselage mid flight. The alaskan airline flight was forced to make an emergency landing last night. The NTSB said it had recovered the panel and the door plug that also detached from the plane. According to NTSB chair Jennifer Homondy, the autopressurization fail light illuminated during three flights before this one, raising questions about the.

Need for maintenance, one on December 7, one on January 3, and one on January 4. In these three previous flights, after the light illuminated, they flipped the switch to alt mode. Nothing occurred. Very benign. They reported it. It was tested by maintenance and then reset. I'm sure I will be asked if there is any correlation between the light that illuminated and the expulsion of the door plug. We don't know that there was any correlation.

Could be entirely separate chinese authorities claim they've detained a person who they believe to be collecting state secrets on behalf of the british foreign intelligence agency Mi Six. In a social media post, the Chinese Ministry of State Security said that Britain is believed to have been in contact with the person since 2015. They say the person had been trained intelligence gathering and was provided equipment to do so. No further information has been given on what intelligence was gathered, nor did the ministry say where the alleged agent was being held.

A new winter storm is on the move and is expected to affect over 40 states. This comes after nearly 2ft of snow hit California, Colorado and several states in between. Now, according to officials, nine states in the west and the Plains are under a blizzard warning. The storm is on track to move through Washington, Oregon, Idaho, New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska. Then it will head toward Chicago, Milwaukee and Green Bay. Meanwhile, the south is bracing for flash flooding and tornadoes along the Gulf coast.

The other big box office success of 2023 was largely snubbed, losing best comedy to the indie film Poor Things. The ceremony marked a second life for the Globes, which A listers had boycotted the last few years due to scandals over alleged racism, sexism and evidence that previous owner, the Hollywood Foreign Press association, was exchanging awards for favors.
