You. I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire editor in Chief John Bickley. It's Friday, December 22, and this is your morning wire. Afternoon update the Supreme Court has rejected special counsel Jack Smith's request for an expedited ruling on presidential immunity for Donald Trump. Presidential immunity would shield the former president from charges that he defrauded the United States with his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election. The court's decision will likely delay the March 4 start date for Trump's federal trial, an outcome Trump's lawyers have advocated for. The justices did not release a statement regarding the reason for their ruling. The issue will, however, be decided by the US Court of Appeals for Washington, DC, which has signaled it will act quickly in reaching a decision.
